Armed with the knowledge of pedagogical skills   and an indulgence to impart content knowledge,   I entered the classroom as a fresh young teacher three decades ago.

Inspired and transformed by the actual learning culture, I remain a happy researcher in Classroom Dynamics.

I believe an ideal Teaching-Learning climate is a combination of patience, non-threatening environment, high degree of accountability and a great sense of ownership and belongingness.

I tested this belief in various scenarios in rural and urban settings and presented the findings as an ongoing research paper in the April 2000 convention of International Reading Association, New Orleans.

Creating and sharing this scenario then became my passion which took me on a journey from Philippines, to Singapore, from Balwadis to Public schools across our country.

As a spin off to my findings I added one more important factor to the ideal teaching-learning climate which is the importance of ability to Read to make sense.

My presentation in 2002 convention of International Reading Association at San Francisco was on ‘Creating inclusive classrooms’.A collaborative work with Dr. June Fiorito of Canadian University College on Readers Theatre for developing reading fluency and motivation enabled me to establish a learning center in 2003 linking Gardener’s learning styles and Bloom’s higher order skills.

Around the same year I worked with Government of Tamil Nadu and NGO’s to establish language labs.

Training and travelling became an integral part of my life as an elected representative of International Development in Asia Committee (IDAC) and a Resident Scholar of Reading Research Quarterly (RRQ) of International Reading Association (IRA).

My destiny brought me to Silver Oaks which reverberates these thoughts and more through the IB programme that revolves around Cooperative Inquiry based learning.

I am now convinced that success of academic programmes depend on collaborative and inclusive wisdom.
